Hinckley for the arts is now the place where “it’s all happening”. We have three outstanding exhibition spaces catering for all from the first time exhibitor to the seasoned professional looking for a unique, stunning and flexible gallery.
Concordia Theatre, Stockwell Head
We encourage schools, colleges, young people and first time exhibitors to “learn the ropes” in this modest but professional space. There is a professional hanging system for 2D framed or canvas on stretcher work in the Concordia Café Bar. The exhibitors’ first task is as always to see the space in the flesh. This is by appointment only. Contact Bev Chandler at firstname.lastname@example.org
To set the beginner off on a professional footing three items will then be required:
- A proposal outlining the type of work to be exhibited.
- An artist statement stating any appropriate qualifications or past experience on A4 paper, which will be used to introduce your work.
- Images of the work on CD or email are required.
This process is necessary to ensure the quality of the work is sufficient to maintain the reputation of the exhibition programme. If this is a new process to you don’t worry, this space is all about getting started in a nurturing environment.
Library Gallery, Lancaster Road
This is a more ambitious space, larger in size with a rental charge and exhibition programme set several months ahead due to the popularity of the space. We exhibit professional artists or those with a previous exhibition history. There is an annual “Open Exhibition” where everyone is encouraged to enter. The Library Gallery has a more formal application process that can be obtained from email@example.com.
Leicestershire County Council
The Creative Hinckley Gallery at the Atkins Building
This is a gallery, which aims to exhibit artists in mid to late career. They will have a national or international reputation for showing “challenging” modern art, which questions, inspires and provokes response. The space is ambitious with state of the art lighting and incredible daylight. The bespoke exhibition panels create a unique flexible space. The addition of education and conference spaces, in house catering and a professional management team allow for the ultimate exhibition venue.
The Atkins Building also provides a relaxing breakout space in the form of Café Impressions which is conveniently placed next to the gallery thereby improving viewer potential. Additional facilities include: hireable state of the art meeting and conference spaces and catering facilities.
