Creative Hinckley is the name of the collective of arts and creative industries practitioners who live, work and practice within the Borough of Hinckley and Bosworth. We have a passion for the development of successful and sustainable arts and creative businesses, but also have a deep-seated commitment to the place in which we live and work.
Creative industries are defined as those industries that are based on individual creativity, skill and talent. They are also those that have the potential to create wealth and jobs through developing intellectual property. Creative industries include:
- Art & Antiques Markets
- Computer / Video games
- Film / Video
- Performing Arts
- Photography / Digital Media
- Television & Radio
- Visual Arts
Creative Hinckley began life as a loose alliance of interested parties facilitated by both Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and Creative Leicestershire, and supported by Arts Council East Midlands and external business consultants, Greenborough Management. In January 2008 ‘Creative Hinckley’ was officially launched.
The management committee was formed following an open invitation to artists and creative businesses to come together to advocate for the creative industries in general and to develop creative workspace and studio space within the Goddard Building development. Creative Hinckley is supported by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and is represented by Lindsay Orton, the Arts Development & Tourism Officer.
Creative Hinckley have amassed a database of creative practitioners, who have the potential to be tenants of the creative workspaces, to become users of the facilities and business support, to exhibit their work and to let space for retail. The total membership of Creative Hinckley continues to expand as individuals hear of the potential of the organisation adding to the feeling of positivity for an exciting and energetic future for the creative business community within Hinckley and Bosworth.
